The loop is the basic unit of the knitted fabric, which is a space curve. Its projection on the fabric plane is composed of approximate straight line segments and arc line segments, the straight line is called circle column, and the arc line is called circle arc. In knitted fabrics, a row of stitches arranged horizontally is called a course, and a row of stitches in the longitudinal direction is called a wale. The horizontal distance between the corresponding points of two adjacent coils on the coil course is called the loop pitch. The vertical distance between the corresponding points of two adjacent coils on the coil wale is called the coil height.

There are positive and negative points in the form of knitted fabric loops. The coil that the coil post covers the circle arc is called the front coil, and the coil that the circle arc covers the circle post is called the reverse coil. One side is a front loop and the other side is a fabric with a reverse loop, which is called a single-jersey knitted fabric; a fabric with a mix of front loops and reverse loops distributed on the same side is called a double-jersey knitted fabric.

Knitted fabrics are divided into basic weaves, variable weaves and color weaves according to the coil structure and mutual arrangement. The basic weave is the basis of all knitted fabrics and consists of loops combined in the simplest possible way. Such organizations include weft knitting, ribbing, double reverse, warp knitting chain, warp flat, warp satin and so on. The change organization is formed by arranging another or several other basic organization wales between the adjacent coil wales of one basic organization. This type of organization includes weft knitting change flat stitch and double rib, warp knitting warp pile and warp bias, etc. The design and color organization is based on the above-mentioned organization, and is formed by changing the coil structure, or weaving some auxiliary yarns and other textile raw materials. Design and color weaves mainly include jacquard, tuck, leno, pineapple, pumping, padding, terry, plating, corrugation, warp and weft inlay, plush and composite weaves made of the above weaves. Such tissues have pronounced flower-color effects and distinct mechanical properties.
